Neutrality Acts
The first Neutrality Act was passed for limited period of six months. It prohibited Americans from sending "arms, ammunition, and implements of war" to foreign nations that the President proclaimed were at war.
“Cash and Carry”
The sale of non - military goods to countries at war on a "cash and carry" basis - in other words, so long as the buyer paid in cash and arranged their transportation.
Lend Lease Act
This act repealed parts of the Neutrality Act of 1939 and authorized the US to sell, lease, or lend war materials to "any country whose defense the President deems vital to the defense of the US."
Atlantic Charter
It laid the foundation for the future United Nations, a new international organization that would replace the League of Nations.
Attack on Pearl Harbor
On December 7, 1941, two separate waves of Japanse airplanes attcaked the US Pacific fleet stationed in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. The surprise attack destroyed six ships and 180 aircraft, took the lives of 2,403 Americans, and harmed 1,178.
