About Us

Based in the heart of Whitstable, we are part of the United Reformed Church. Having had a presence in the city for more than 200 years, we serve the local community and visitors alike through an approach that is reformed and continuing to reform. We are an enthusiastic and caring Church open and welcome to everyone.

Our Vision

We are a welcoming, enthusiastic and caring Church that tells of God's Love and the power of prayer. We will spread the word of God by word and by example to all in our community.

How We Work

Our Church is run by our Members, who elect a group of Elders to carry out the day to day oversight of the Church.

We are currently undertaking a process of discernment and prayer as we call a new Minister in service to God at our church. We partner in this with other URC churches in Kent, with the wider Synod, and the United Reformed Church nationally.

Background & History

Whitstable URC was originally the Whitstable Congregational Church, formed in 1808.  It became the Whitstable United Reformed Church in 1972.  Whitstable URC is part of The United Reformed Church - 'Called to be God’s people, transformed by the Gospel, making a difference in today’s world'.

Partners

Whitstable URC is part of Churches Together in Whitstable, a visible sign of our commitment to creating a common witness to Christ in our city. We support the work of Beach Pastors and The Haven Project

We also have a close partnership with church in close proximity to us in Whitstable: St John's Methodist Church, Whitstable Baptist Church and Harbour Street Christian Fellowship.

We participate each September in the Friends of Kent Churches Ride and Stride sponsored walk and cycle.
