About Us

Based in the heart of Whitstable, we are part of the United Reformed Church. Having had a presence in the city for more than 200 years, we serve the local community and visitors alike through an approach that is reformed and continuing to reform. We are an enthusiastic and caring Church open and welcome to everyone.

Our Vision

We will be a welcoming, enthusiastic and caring Church that tells of God's Love and the power of prayer. We will spread the word of God by word and by example to all in our community.

How We Work

Our Church is run by our Members, who elect a group of Elders to carry out the day to day oversight of the Church. The position of Minister at our Church is held by Revd. Martin Belgrove, who was ordained and inducted at a service on Saturday 25th July 2015. Revd. Martin Belgrove also serves as Minister at our sister churches, the Herne Bay United Church and Faversham United Churches - together we form the North East Kent Coast Pastorate.

Background & History

Whitstable URC was originally the Whitstable Congregational Church, formed in 1808. It became the Whitstable United Reformed Church in 1972. Whitstable URC is part of The United Reformed Church - 'Called to be God’s people, transformed by the Gospel, making a difference in today’s world'.

Whitstable URC is part of Churches Together in Whitstable, a visible sign of our commitment to creating a common witness to Christ in our city.

We also have a close partnership with church in close proximity to us in Whitstable: St John's Methodist Church, Whitstable Baptist Church and Harbour Street Christian Fellowship.

We also share a minister with our two United sister churches in Faversham and Herne Bay.

We participate each September in the Friends of Kent Churches Ride and Stride sponsored walk and cycle.
