MULTIDISCIPLINARY CONCEPT DEVELOPMENT INNOVATION HUB

The University of Moratuwa, a leading technological higher education institute, places a high priority on research and innovation. Accordingly, the main objective of the university is to continue fostering innovation. The project aims to establish a cooperative platform for knowledge sharing to nurture valuable innovation under the concept of "Rise up More Novel Thoughts". The More Moral app, introduced in relation to the project, allows students to publish their innovative ideas, invite other departmental students for support, and provides opportunities to purchase innovative product items. Accordingly, the design approach aims to cultivate an innovative student culture, enhance the university's reputation as a top technical institution, and promote collaboration across various fields for knowledge sharing. The site is located on the east face of the Sumonadasa building, which is a convenient location for introducing new innovative concepts and acts as a transitional junction for a higher density of students. Therefore, a mini-workshop, product showroom, digital studio, hologram space, and discussion spaces can be identified as the major functional areas within the design, harmonizing with the existing natural elements of the site.
