CITY LIVE MUSEUM FOR COLOMBO
The project envisions guiding visitors to explore the architectural heritage surrounding Colombo, showcasing styles from the Portuguese, English, and Dutch colonial periods. It aims to transform Colombo into a dynamic urban museum, leveraging modern technology to offer an immersive experience. The focal point is the 'Goffoor' building area, where colonial architectural motifs blend with 21st-century design elements to provide a unique atmosphere.
The design incorporates small colonial-inspired features, akin to a beehive, symbolizing the intricate relationship between historical and contemporary architecture. The museum's roof, resembling a beehive's hexagonal structure, sets it apart from surrounding buildings. Inside, the layout mimics a bee cluster, while a canopy connecting the museum to the expressway offers pedestrians a novel perspective.
Overall, the project seeks to rejuvenate the area by infusing it with historical charm and innovative design, inviting visitors to explore and engage with Colombo's rich architectural tapestry.
