'WIMBAM OF WOE'
An exhibition should transcend the state of “mere display” state where it immerse visitors in the essence of the artists creations. As for the artist Asai Rasiah whose work revolves around themes of sadness and critical challenges faced by the community, the design shows a unique exhibition concept. Central to this concept the walls are constructed from small cubes where each cube is comprised by a steel frame filled with stones and roof tiles salvaged from homes which were ravaged by war and tsunami disaster. These materials symbolize the profound struggles endured by the community, serving as poignant reminder within the exhibition space. Moreover the exhibition isn't just a gallery but also a tactile experience, inviting visitors to engage within with the artwork on a deeper level with sense of touch and observing the elements comprising the installation. Through this immersive approach, the exhibition aims to evoke empathy and understanding, fostering a profound connection between the audience and the artist’s poignant narrative.
