Flying

The University of Oregon is easily accessible by car, train, or airplane. Please note that all meals are provided during the duration of the conference (dinner on Friday, January 12th through lunch on Sunday, January 14). For a list of recommended restaurants outside of these times, see the map on the "Location" section of the Travel tab.

Note that if you are requesting travel reimbursement, you must send the organizers your travel plans for approval BEFORE BOOKING! (email: uo.cuwip2018@gmail.com). You MUST request approval by December 18th, 2017. Please see the REIMBURSEMENT page for details before contacting the organizing committee.

Eugene is serviced by the Eugene Airport (EUG), which hosts flights through Delta, United, American, Allegiant, and Alaska Airlines. We highly recommend that attendees coming to Eugene from cities other than those in Oregon fly into this airport. Direct flights may be available from Seattle, San Francisco, Oakland, and San Jose airports. It should be possible to find round-trip tickets for <$250 to/from EUG.

You should plan on arriving in Eugene before 5 pm on Friday, January 12 and departing Eugene after 4 pm on Sunday, January 14. The airport is roughly a 30 minute drive from campus. There is no ride-sharing service in Eugene (Uber or Lyft), so use one of the following methods of transportation to/from the airport:

  • Oregon Taxi
      • Make a reservation by calling Oregon Taxi at (541) 434-8294. Do not reserve online. When making your reservation, mention the code “CUWiP”.
      • Reservations must be made separately for arrival into Eugene and departure.
  • OmniShuttle
      • Make a round-trip reservation here.
          • Do not enter the name of a hotel. Instead, in the "Hotel" block enter the code "CUWiP".
      • When boarding the shuttle (for both arrival and departure from Eugene), mention the code "CUWiP" to the driver.
      • Reservations can also be made over the phone, at (541) 461-7959. If special circumstances occur and you cannot make a reservation ahead, go to the OmniShuttle desk at the airport. Tell them you need a ride and mention the code "CUWiP".

Please note that the expense of this travel is covered for you, however tips for the drivers are not included.

See example itineraries below. Those requiring travel to the Portland airport (PDX) or flights into Eugene outside of the suggested windows should contact the organizers at uo.cuwip2018@gmail.com before purchasing a ticket.
