Galvin Alonzo Ortiz is a PhD candidate in the strawberry pathology lab, working under Dr. Natalia Peres. Originally from the Dominican Republic, Galvin eventually made his way to Honduras, where he earned his Bachelor of Science at EAP Zamorano. He first came to the GCREC as an intern, later returning to pursue his master’s degree. Galvin’s research focuses on different management practices for Neopestalotiopsis, a fungal pathogen impacting strawberry production in central Florida.
