Who we are
We are an organization promoting the advancement of education and professional development of graduate students and postdocs at the University of Florida Gulf Coast Research and Education Center (GCREC) located at Balm and Plant City, Florida
our beginnings
The association was founded in 2017 by a group of graduate students and postdocs with the mission of organizing academic seminars for the community working at the GCREC. In 2018, the association was officially established as the GCPSA when the organization’s constitution was ratified.
OUR GOALS
To enhance communication and networking between graduate students, postdoctoral scholars, and faculty within and outside of GCREC.
To foster outreach with industry and academic communities.
To create and promote intellectual, social, and cultural opportunities among graduate students, postdoctoral scholars, and faculty within and outside GCREC.
To foster professional mentorship among postdoctoral scholars and graduate students.
To promote the use of peer groups as a resource for solving challenging research problems.
To foster interdisciplinary collaboration among postdoctoral researchers and graduate students with diverse specializations.
Representing the student body and advocating for their needs and concerns.
Fostering a positive school community and promoting school spirit.
Encouraging student involvement in school decision-making processes.
Promote the opportunity to develop leadership and teamwork skills.
