Lesson Development using Universal Design for Learning

Purpose of this instruction: To create an online professional development module that provides teachers who teach F2F courses an overview of the Universal Design for Learning principles and how to apply those principles to learning activities in their classroom.

How this course will work:

  • The course will begin with an introduction and overview of what UDL is and what the framework and guidelines consist of for this approach to teaching.

  • Next, you will engage in online instruction and learning activities to help better understand how UDL is applied and how you can apply it in your own classroom.

  • Last, you will create a lesson plan for your classroom that meets UDL guidelines and is inclusive to all students, no matter how they learn.

How to navigate this course: There are links below for the Introduction and Overview, Instruction and Activities, and Create Your Lesson Plan - each of the three parts of this professional development. You will begin with the Introduction and Overview. Once that is completed, you will see instructions for where to go next to begin your instruction and learning activity, and then there will be similar instructions at the end of each page until you complete this professional development.
