Pre-Pointe

Ages: 10+ yrs

Description: A class designed for students wishing to pursue pointe. Emphasis is placed on lower leg strength and flexibility. This class builds the dancer’s skills for entrance into Pointe. The class will be composed mainly of barre work with some center floor work and cross floor combinations. (Note: If accepted into this class, do NOT purchase pointe shoes without instructor’s approval. Initial training is done in regular ballet slippers.)

  • Prerequisites: At least 1 year in ballet 2 and with teacher recommendation. Ability to hold a well elevated releve on demi pointe with straight knees. (NOTE: Student is required to also take Ballet 2, 3, or 4.)
  • Dress Code:

Girls - Tights, Black leotard (may have an accent color), tan/pink ballet slippers. Pointe shoes when permitted.

Boys - Black shorts/dance pants, black ballet slippers, and white fitted shirt or leotard/unitard. Pointe shoes when permitted.

Pointe

Ages: At least 11 years of age.

Description: Students will utilize previously learned ballet techniques while working in pointe shoes. Barre work will remain an essential part of the class as the students continue to practice more center floor work and cross floor combinations.

  • Prerequisites: At least 1 year of Pre-Pointe and a minimum age of 11 years old. Must present strong ankles, good body posture, and a strong core. (NOTE: Student is required to also take Ballet 4.)
  • Dress Code:

Girls - Tights, Black leotard (may have an accent color), pointe shoes.

Boys - Black shorts/dance pants, pointe shoes, and white fitted shirt or leotard/unitard.
