Competitive Classes

All competition classes are choreography-based class structure with mainly skill polishing and limited new skills learning. Students are required to take a regular class (corresponding style of dance) in addition to the competition class with the exception that the student successfully completed and mastered all the skills in the available classes offered. Musicality and focus to detail are very important.

*Competitive 1 Class: Styles will be ballet and jazz. – Student must be enrolled in level 2 or higher of ballet and jazz.

*Competitive 2 Class: Styles will be contemporary and musical show. – Student must be enrolled in level 2 or higher of contemporary.

Competitive Hip Hop: Student must be enrolled in level 2 or higher of hip hop.

Competitive Tap: Student must be enrolled in level 2 or higher of tap.

Placements for Competitive 1 and 2 will be based off tryouts on July 27, 2019 at 10:00 AM in Studio A. There is no tryout for Tap nor Hip Hop.

*Styles for competitive 1 and 2 classes are subject to change yearly.


Universal Dance Academy will participate in 3 competitions for 2019-2020 and are still TBD.
