Certification Only: FCAW – Flux Cored Arc Welding Process 

Level 4: GMAW-S (Short Circuit Transfer Method / Short Arc) & FCAW (Flux Cored Arc Welding)

• Position: 1G Pipe (Rollout to be performed on Electric Positioner with optional foot pedal remote)

• Material: 4” Schedule 40 Carbon Steel

• Weld Joint: Single V-Groove (Open Root)

• Bevel Angle: 30-37.5 Degree Max Bevel (60-75 Degrees Max Included)

• Root Opening: 0”-1/8” Max

• Land or Root Face: 0”-1/8” Max

• Electrode Diameter and Classification: 0.035” ER70S-6 Solid Bare Wire and 0.045” E71T-1C Tubular Gas Shielded Flux Core Wire

• Shielding Gas: 100% CO2 for FCAW,  GMAW  C25 (75/25)

• GMAW: Single Root Pass (1/8” Max Root Reinforcement Height)

• FCAW: Multi Pass Fill and Cap (1/2” Max Bead Width and 3/16” Max Reinforcement Height)

• Welding Code: Performance Qualification, Visual Inspection, RT and Bend Test to ASME Section IX 

IMPORTANT INFO: 

All Welding Levels will allow chipping hammers and wire brushes. In addition to that Levels 1 will allow battery powered grinders with wire wheels, and Levels 2,3&4 will allow grinders with wire wheels and grinding disks for light grinding needs.

Registered Students will compete All-Tex cutting challenge.  Challenge will be timed and evaluated for accuracy.

IMPORTANT: Each individual needs bring their own their own PPE this includes, clear/dark face shield, safety glasses and gloves that are to be worn at all times while in the cutting area. 

*All Students that register for a welding certification level are automatically entered for compete in the Cutting Contest Challenge.
