1. Teams should supply any equipment that would be needed to complete the metal build. Including but not limited to engine driven welder, grinders, levels, clamps, work tables, saw horses, oxy-fuel rig, metal cutting saw, and any other equipment you feel necessary. If you want to participate but do not have an engine driven welder please contact Texas High School Welding Series by emailing txhsws@gmail.com
2. Each school should provide some type of banner, flag, or signage displaying their school or program name.
3. All welding will be performed using the SMAW process. The following electrodes will be supplied, if you would like to use a different electrode you will need to supply them.
a. 7018 - 1⁄8”, 3/32”
b. 6010 - 1⁄8”
4. The Project will be constructed with the Plans and Materials provided.
5. All participants must attend the Safety Meeting at 7:30 AM
6. Each team will be given designated time from 7:50 to 8:20 am to search materials, gather and design their projects..
7. Engines can power up after the Safety Meeting to begin the build-off will begin at 8:20 AM and end at 2:00 PM with results announced immediately following judging. At judges discretion more time may be allowed to complete the build. There will be a 30 minute MANDATORY lunch break given. During this time all engines are off and work must cease.
8. Teachers will be allowed in the construction area from 7:50 AM - 8:20 AM and again for a 15 minute period immediately following the lunch break to offer advice in the planning process. At all other times teachers shall be clear of the construction area.
