Coupons may be x-rayed, and/or broke and etched
Awards will be at the conclusion of the last welder
Prizes and plaque/trophy to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd, for levels 1, 2 & 3*
* Student welders in level 3 and 3M will need to register for Level 3, however points will be given to the students in their welding level.Contest Rules and Event Scheduling
Safety
Appropriate safety items MUST be brought by the students:
Safety Glasses
Welding Gloves
Welding Hoods
Safety Shoes
Safety Clothes (Cotton long sleeves and pants with no frays)
Chipping Hammer and Wire Brush/Grinder with wire wheel (MUST BE CORDLESS)
GRINDERS MUST HAVE APPROPRIATE GUARDS IN PLACE TO BE USED!
Holding/Clamping Devices
No safety equipment or tools will be provided.
Rules
Level 1- Beginner
Students must be proficient in the Level 1 - Position and Process.
10 minutes to complete welding test.
Material will be fitted together and ready to go.
Grinders with wire wheels are allowed but MUST BE CORDLESS!
Level 2- Intermediate
Students must be proficient in the Level 2 - Position and Process.
30 minutes to complete welding test
Material will be fitted together and ready to go
Grinders may be used to feather start/stops but MUST BE CORDLESS!
Level 3- Proficient and Advanced
Students must be proficient in the Level 2 - Position and Process.
30 minutes to complete welding test
Material will NOT be fitted together, Students will fit their own coupons!
Grinders may be used to feather start/stops but MUST BE CORDLESS!
All judges will be AWS Certified Welding Inspectors & Welding power supplies, wire, and metal will be provided.

Single or Multi-Pass: Single Pass

Shield Gas: C25 (75%Argon and 25%Carbon Dioxide)

Level 2: GMAW-S (Short Circuit Transfer Method or Short Arc) and FCAW (Flux Cored Arc Welding)

Bevel Angle: 30-37.5 Degree Max Bevel (60-75 Degrees Max Included)
