Qualifications for Build Off
All members on teams need to either show up with their TXHSWS certifications from before hand or they certify on site before they build.
Teachers contact Sun City Welding Academy to set up a Certification Day at your school!
Some certifications can be earned the day of the event, however test failure will prevent welder participation in build off.
Day of Build Off Certification Tests will be on site from 7:00 a-8:30a and start the build off at 9am.

Build Off - Coming Soon!
Rules and Requirements $60 Per Team
Each School that attends will be able to register a Build Off Team of 2-3 High School Students.
Each School will need:
A banner, flag or other to display the school name. ( School Recognition and School Spirit!)
A portable welding trailer, truck or shop set up for the event. The Build Off Team must be set up to work off grid so all power will have to come from the generator or generators that the school brings.
Welder, Grinders, cutting rig, etc any tools you would need to complete the build.
Adjustable table or work table my help.
If you need a welder let us know and we can find you a machine to use for the day.
Each Team will receive:.

Brissa Vega, at Sun City Welding Academy
Brissa has brought her experience from the Oil and Gas background to Sun City Welding Academy, started as a Labor worker back in 2008 and moved her way up in the Field Engineering area of the company she worked for. She was exposed to welding, isometric drawings and Quality Control which was always part of her interest in the field as an Industrial Engineer in Quality and Productivity.
Brissa started inspecting welds in 2010 and in 2012 got the opportunity to become a QC inspector, in 2018 she earned her CWI certification and became QC manager at the company she worked for.
Sharing my knowledge of the welding industry, to help prepare students for real world standards in weld testing, inspection and education brings me great satisfaction, in knowing that I was a part of their preparation for career success!"

Build Off is Limited to 20 Teams only one team per school.
UNDER WATER WELDING EVENT
The Ocean Corp
Students with the best under water weld passes will have the opportunity to earn a Dive Coin that will qualify them for the Underwater Welding and Diving State Event this summer at The Ocean Corp in Houston.
At the State event students will compete for TOC Scholarships and prizes as well as the opportunity to earn an AWS D3.6 Welding Certification.
