Happy New Year!

What an exciting time to embrace a fresh, new year! We hope that you enjoyed your Christmas season and were able to find wonderful ways to #lighttheworldwithlove.

Looking forward, we hope that this new year provides spiritual, physical, intellectual and social growth for all of you and the primary children. By focusing on Jesus Christ and building our primary programs around Him and His Gospel, the Holy Ghost will be able to teach us and the children how to draw closer to Him.

As Primary leaders, the New Year is a great time to brush up on our primary leadership responsibilities. Below are a few links that will help with the focus of your calling:

We love you and we appreciate the tender love and care that you take daily for the children and their families. We look forward to seeing you during your upcoming ward/branch conference and spending time with you this year!

Love,

Sis. Cureton, Sis. Becker, Sis. Mosely & Sis. Martin

Counsel Together

As we counsel together in our presidencies, what kind of pattern do we follow when structuring our meetings? Do we start with a prayer? Is there a spiritual thought and handbook focus included? Do we report back previous action items to hold ourselves and one another accountable? Do we end with a prayer?

Inviting the Spirit into our meetings so that we might be taught in the way of our Savior Jesus Christ is part of aligning our will and the will of our presidency with Him. It doesn't matter where we're at with our meetings. One little change can have a huge impact!

What's new...?

Restroom Safety - From the General Handbook 12.5.4: "Leaders and teachers should encourage parents to take their children to the restroom before Primary. During Primary, a young child must be taken to the restroom by a parent of legal guardian. Leaders and teachers should not take children into the restroom."

Videos will be regularly released throughout the year to help children learn and live the gospel principles taught in Come, Follow Me. This includes videos of the Old Testament stories and others, made especially for kids.

These 50 illustrated Bible stories can be found digitally in the Gospel Library or purchased in print at Church distribution centers or online at store.ChurchofJesusChrist.org.

Preparing Children and Youth to Enter the Temple

*Children turning 12 next year may have some questions about what to expect on their first visit to the temple to perform ordinances for others. As a leader, what can you do to help parents prepare their children for the temple? How can you also help prepare children without family support at home?

The following series of articles and activities may help. The topics include:

Temple and Priesthood Preparation Meeting

In addition to these resources, each year a Temple and Priesthood Preparation meeting should be held for children turning 12 next year and their parents. Guidelines and resources are available to help you plan this meeting.
