Questioning

The Right Question Institute (RQI) is a nonprofit educational organization offering a simple, powerful strategy that builds people’s skills to ask better questions, participate in decisions that affect them, advocate for themselves, and partner with service-providers. RQI’s innovative methods are delivered through educational institutions and organizations, health care organizations, social service organizations, community-based organizations, and public agencies all over the country and beyond.

This center is affiliated with the University of Illinois. It presents ways to engage students in asking questions, how to respond to the questions they ask, how to deepen conversations in the classroom, and how to provide support for students as they explore the questions they have generated.

The Levels of Questions strategy helps students comprehend and interpret a text by requiring them to answer three types of questions about it: factual, inferential, and universal.
