For Any%, you need 4 green kinstones for the Magical Boomerang sidequest:
2 GP (for Tingle in South Hyrule Field and David Jr. at Lake Hylia)
1 G[ (for Knuckle at Trilby Highlands)
1 G< (for Ankle at Lon Lon Ranch)
There are a couple options for obtaining this set of kinstones that with varying levels of difficulty.
This is the most beginner friendly route for runners who do not use Armos Clip, or do not want to manipulate a kinstone from the Armos. This route requires 3 save and quits total, making it the slowest option by about 20-30 seconds.
After obtaining the bow, save and quit to perform the Castor Wilds Double Manip. (G[ and GP)
After the above manip, save and quit again to perform the Double manip again. (extra G[ but then a GP which we want). Alternatively, you can preform the single GP manip (GP) (slightly faster than the double manip but requires learning an extra manipulation).
(Optional) Either Lever Clip or 2nd Armos clip in Fortress of winds can be performed to get a GP, to avoid having to do a 2nd manipulation in swamp.
After fusing with David Jr. in Lake Hylia, enter Lon Lon Ranch from the east. Save and quit to perform the LLR manip. (G<)
Note that runners who do not wish to perform Armos Clip can use the Quadruple Kinstone Manip detailed below, but they will have less options to backup failed manipulations. Because the Armos Clip variants are generally considered easier than the Quadruple Kinstone Manip, it is recommended for runners to learn Armos Clip before the Quadruple Kinstone Manip.
Runners that use Armos Clip have a couple options. The first option is to perform the first two manips in the "No Armos Clip Route" above and obtain a G< from Armos Clip. This saves one save and quit over the beginner route.
The other option is the use the Quadruple Kinstone Swamp Manip by Vlack. This can potentially save 2 save and quits and a couple seconds after Armos Clip. If all 4 kinstones are obtained, you do not need to manipulate any drops from the Armos after clipping. However, getting the third and fourth kinstones from this manip can be very inconsistent. As long as you get the first 2 or 3, you can easily continue the run and obtain the others through other means. Below outlines the steps you should take if you don't obtain all 4 kinstones:
In the following manips, If you are unable to get a G< from the 2nd armos then you can still get the G< from the LLR manip above.
Option A) (Slowest/Easiest) Do another save and quit to perform a 2nd Quadruple Kinstone Swamp Manip by Vlack, however on this attempt you can stop after collecting the first 3 Kinstones. If you only collect 2 again then use Armos Clip to obtain a G<.
Option B) (Fastest/Hardest) Continue to Fortress of Winds, at the entrance of the Dungeon save and quit to perform Lever Clip, after the key drop animation you do 1 boot dash and then spin attack the armos for it to drop a GP. After obtaining the Mole Mitts, perform the 2nd Armos clip to obtain a G<.
Note: In all of the above strategies, if you fail to get a G< from the 2nd armos clip then you can continue the run and then do the LLR manip for the G< instead.
Option A) (Slowest/Easiest) Do another save and quit to perform a 2nd Quadruple Kinstone Swamp Manip by Vlack. On this attempt you can stop after collecting the first 2 Kinstones. Alternatively you can do the Double Kinstone manip or single GP manip to get the last GP.
Option B) (Fastest/Hardest) Use Lever Clip to obtain a GP. If this fails or if you do not wish to use Lever Clip then you can use the 2nd Armos Clip to obtain the GP.
This manip collects a GP and G[ kinstone. It is an easy to perform manipulation, that should be learned first as a consistent way to get the kinstones needed in the Any% run. It can be used in more advanced routes as a backup when the harder manipulations fail.
Reset
Hold up-left
Slash twice as soon as possible
Slash the two bottom right bushes and hold your sword out (G[ Kinstone)
Break the middle right bush
Stand
Wait until the swamp water visual cue (Video on Right)
Release your Spin Attack to get the GP Kinstone
This is an easy way to get a G< in a pinch.
Enter LLR from Lake Hylia
Equip the Mole Mitts and save and quit.
Mash the Mole Mitts as soon as you gain control of Link
Note: you only need the first kinstone shown in the video, not all three.
A difficult and fast manipulation that collects ALL the green kinstones needed for the entire run in one manipulation (or most of them in the case for triple). Since the kinstones are collected in a sequence then the runner has various options of what to do given the number of kinstones they collected from it. Some runners opt to intentionally stop the manip after the 3rd kinstone and get the remaining kinstone from a later manip.
The sequence of kinstones are: G{ GP G< GP
Reset
Hold up-left
Slash sword as soon as possible, then immediately tap boots after the slash (no dust effects)
Slash and hold sword to hit the two bottom right bushes and keep sword held as you walk up into the kinstone (G[ Kinstone)
Mash the textbox asap (release sword during textbox)
Roll directly down to the swamp water
When link hits the swamp water, face left and boot dash
While dashing left drift down slightly to cross this section of swamp water
Stop dashing in line with the climbable vine and roll up into it
Note: while climbing the vine there should be a rope (snake) at the bottom of the screen moving upwards, if it is not there then the rng is incorrect and the manip has failed.
At the top of the vine, continue holding up and slash only the first bit of grass for the 2nd kinstone to drop.
Walk a few pixels up and slash again to break the 2nd bit of grass and collect the GP Kinstone just before it hits the ground.
Mash through the textbox, continue to hold up out of the textbox
Walk up a few more pixels and slash the 2 next bits of grass for the 3rd kinstone drop.
Continue walking a few more pixels up and slash to pick up the G< Kinstone just before it hits the ground.
End of Triple, continuation for Quad:
Mash through the textbox, continue holding the sword button out of this textbox.
Hold the sword and walk up to the first pixel that link enters the "Walking in grass animation"
Hold until the swamp water bubble underneath the last digit of the rupee count reaches its maximum size, as seen in the image on the right.
Collect the kinstone for another GP.
Spin release visual cue:
Slow-mo of the bubble bursting animation
Top runners will go for the hardest and fastest route possible which collects only 3 kinstones in swamp while manipulating the peahat simultaneously, this is done exclusively in the Octo Clip route and so runners will do various other manipulations in Fortress to acquire all remaining kinstones.
The details of these manipulations and strategies are not fully detailed, most top runners will develop their own or consult the community directly for advice.
Lever Clip has a manipulation to get a GP kinstone, more details available on the page for the trick.
If you need to use the Armos Clip backup as described on the Armos Clip page, you will have to adjust your actions after the clip based on how many "extra" rolls you use to clip. The table below describes the actions you should take to get each kinstone based on the number of extra rolls used, which kinstone you are trying to obtain, and which manip you are performing. 0 extra rolls means you successfully got Armos Clip without using the backup, every roll after that adds 1 to your extra rolls, a roll and a sword slash change RNG by the same amount. If multiple RNG values result in the desired drop then the different options are listed Do note that the Lever clip doesn't have any such backups and has to be done correctly to get the kinstone, if a mistake is made and a kinstone isn't collected from Lever clip then you will have to get a kinstone from the 2nd Armos clip.
"Dust" is how many clouds of boots dust you should generate, each dust is equivalent to 4 slashes. Note that you can only create 3 dust per "full" charge(when link actually starts moving.) Note that 1 slash must be used to kill the Armos, this slash is included in the counts. Spin attack includes the slash used to charge the spin. If a cell has slashes and a spin attack, the slash that is used to charge the spin is separate from the slashes mentioned before it.
Example: For the 2nd Armos Clip, when trying to obtain a GP with 2 extra rolls you would make 8 dust with the boots (2 dashes and then 2 more dust puffs), slash 3 times into the air, activate the Armos and slash it, totaling 4 slashes.
Alternatively you can instead create 9 dust (3 dashes) and 3 total slashes which is simpler and faster, when multiple options are available they will be listed.
Note that using a fairy will change rng by the same amount as a single dust (4 slashes/rolls), which you have to take into account if you are forced to use it.
