Currently this games features 3 Main Leaderboard categories, and 2 Category Extensions.
Beat the game as fast as possible, no restrictions within the confines of the game. This is the most popular category and is recommended to be learned first for most runners, this category is roughly 2 hours for new runners but the top runs reach close to the 1.5 hour mark. There are many guides, lots of information and community support for new runners wishing to learn this category. This category features many glitches to skip over story cutscenes, items and even whole map regions.
Get all Collectables in the game, no restrictions. The full list of items that must be collected to fullfill the 100% requirement can be found here. This category does everything you have to do in any% and more, a grueling 4 hour endurance run that challenges your memory and knowledge of the game.
Beat the game as fast as possible, no glitches allowed. This 2.5 hour category doesn't have any glitches to skip sections, but instead challenges the runner to move link fast and avoid dying.
Beat the game as fast as possible on a romhack version of the game which gives access to the Firerod (an unobtainable item in the game). A much shorter category at only 40 minutes, this category is extremely fast paced allowing you to traverse parts of the game in the blink of an eye. A challengingly precise run where the smallest of mistakes are punished greatly.
Beat the game as fast as possible, starting with all inventory items. Another shorter category at just under 1 hour, this uses all the strats from the any% category plus some more challenging ones to be a much faster and more intense form of the any% run.
This is a link to a playlist of the combined best splits by everyone in the community, showing the fastest strats performed by anyone in a speedrun attempt.
