Associate Principal Technical Artist: Performance Capture

Responsibilities

• Oversee the performance capture pipeline, ensuring seamless integration with animation and game engines.

• Work collaboratively with animators and designers to define and implement performance capture methodologies.

• Optimize and troubleshoot technical issues related to performance capture data and implementation.

• Develop and document best practices for performance capture processes to enhance efficiency.

• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior technical artists and animators.

• Stay updated on industry trends and emerging technologies in performance capture.

• Participate in pre-production planning to assess and prepare the performance capture needs of projects.

Requirements

• Extensive experience as a technical artist with a focus on performance capture in the video game industry.

• Strong proficiency in motion capture software and hardware, including but not limited to Vicon or OptiTrack.

• Experience with game engines such as Unreal Engine or Unity, with a focus on animation pipelines.

• Solid understanding of animation principles and character rigging.

• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure.

• Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively share ideas across multiple teams.

• A proactive approach to learning and adapting to new tools and processes.
