A word from the Editors
‘October Collective’ is what its name indicates; fragments of dreams and reflections assembled into a wreath weaved out of the soul’s reveries just like the strewn blossoms and dried leaves that fulfil the essence and melancholy of autumn. This endeavour on the part of the Literary Society of the Department of English is to enhance, encourage and witness the creative fervour and reflective genius of students, blossoming amidst the crevices of their souls’ recesses, unfold in the parchments that will constitute the whole of this dream being labelled as ‘The October Collective’. The unkempt yard of dreams that bloom with wildflowers, unheard tales whispered to the soul when the moonlight steals over the verdurous gloom, the lingering essences of past rejuvenations and the heart’s yearnings that define what life is constituent of, will furnish the pages of this literary undertaking.
Every poem and story here has a different dream to narrate, for they sprout from varying lived experiences and memories. But somewhere within those canvases of divergent hues that this collection is constituent of, the readers might find themselves embedded within the pages of this dream collective. This creative endeavour nurtures and upholds what life exemplifies: moments of contemplative respites when all the mundane trivialities that humans are akin to, gives way to the vital eternities that transcend the material order of man’s existence in this universe of dreams.
