BEFORE BOOKING YOUR TRIP TO TULÚN, MEXICO
Before you book a trip to Mexico (including Cancún, Cozumel, or Tulum), check if you meet all the requirements:
PASSPORT. You will need a valid passport. It must be valid for the entire duration of your intended stay. Mexican authorities do not require a minimum period of validity, but validity upon entry is mandatory.
VISA. Citizens of the US, Canada, UK, EU, Japan, and many other countries DO NOT need a visa for tourist stays up to 180 days. Citizens of certain countries (e.g., China, Cuba, India, Russia, Venezuela) DO need a visa.
EXEMPTIONS: If you are a citizen of a visa-required country, you will not need a Mexican visa if you hold a valid visa (multiple entry) or permanent resident card from the United States (including a U.S. Green Card), Canada, Japan, the United Kingdom, or any of the Schengen Area countries.
SANITARY REQUIREMENTS: No mandatory general vaccines are required.
Only book your trip AFTER you have all those items arranged.
After you have arranged all the above and booked your hotel, there are still a number of things to do to avoid an unpleasant surprise at customs:
Complete the Multiple Immigration Form (FMM) (Forma Migratoria Múltiple). This form may be provided on the plane, at the port of entry, or may be available online (Electronic FMM).
Have your confirmed round-trip or onward ticket ready.
Have proof of accommodation (hotel reservation) and sufficient economic solvency to cover your stay.
Have all those documents plus your passport and visa (if applicable) at hand for presentation to the immigration officials upon your arrival.
BEWARE: Those requirements are subject to change. Be sure you have an updated list of requirements. The above requirements refere to Nov 21 2025
Playa Paraíso is one of Tulum’s most famous beaches, known for its soft white sand and calm, shallow waters. With palm trees swaying in the breeze and beach clubs offering hammocks and fresh cocktails, it lives up to its name—Paradise Beach. Visitors can sunbathe, swim, or simply enjoy the breathtaking views of the Caribbean horizon.
Just outside town lies the Gran Cenote, one of Tulum’s most popular natural wonders. This freshwater sinkhole, surrounded by lush jungle, is perfect for snorkeling and swimming among stalactites, turtles, and schools of fish. The cenote’s crystal-clear waters make it a magical spot to cool off and connect with the natural beauty of the Yucatán Peninsula.
The highlight of Tulum is undoubtedly the Tulum Ruins, a well-preserved Mayan archaeological site perched dramatically on a cliff overlooking the sea. Once a thriving port city, the ruins include temples, ancient walls, and the iconic El Castillo pyramid. Visiting the site offers travelers a rare combination of history and stunning ocean views, making it one of Mexico’s most unique cultural landmarks.
