BEFORE BOOKING YOUR TRIP TO BONAIRE

Before you book a trip to Bonaire, check if you meet all the requirements:

1. PASSPORT. You will need a valid passport. It must be valid for the entire duration of your intended stay.

2. VISA. Citizens of most countries in the world, including the US, Canada, the UK, and the EU, DO NOT need a Caribbean Visa for stays up to 90 days in a 180-day period. Certain nationalities, particularly in Asia, Africa, and parts of South America, DO need a visa (Schengen Caribbean Visa).

   • EXEMPTIONS: If you are a citizen of a visa-required country, you will not need a visa if you hold a valid Schengen Visa, a valid U.K. or Irish visa, a valid Canadian visa, or a valid U.S. Permanent Resident Card (Green Card).

3. SANITARY REQUIREMENTS: No mandatory general vaccines are required. A Yellow Fever vaccination certificate is mandatory if you are traveling from or have recently visited a country with endemic Yellow Fever.

AFTER BOOKING THE HOTEL

After you have arranged all the above and booked your hotel, there are still a number of things to do to avoid an unpleasant surprise at customs:

1. Pay the mandatory Visitor Tax (currently $75 USD per visit for non-residents aged 13 and older, payable online in advance or upon arrival).

2. Have your confirmed round-trip or onward ticket ready.

3. Have proof of accommodation and sufficient funds.

4. Proof of valid health insurance is required.

Have all those documents plus your passport and visa (if applicable) at hand for presentation to the customs officials upon your arrival.
