BEFORE BOOKING YOUR TRIP TO THE DOMINICAN REPUBLIC

Before you book a trip to the Dominican Republic (DR), check if you meet all the requirements:

1. PASSPORT. You will need a valid passport. Be sure it is valid for a minimum of 6 months beyond your intended date of entry.

2. VISA. Citizens of the majority of countries in the Western Hemisphere and Europe DO NOT need a visa for tourist stays up to 30 days. Citizens of certain countries, primarily in Asia, Africa, and some Eastern European nations, DO need a visa.

   • EXEMPTIONS: If you are a citizen of a country that requires a visa, you will not need one if you hold a valid visa or residence card from the United States (including a U.S. Green Card), Canada, the United Kingdom, or any Schengen Area member state.

3. SANITARY REQUIREMENTS: No mandatory general vaccines are required. Yellow Fever vaccination is only mandatory if arriving from a country with endemic Yellow Fever.

AFTER BOOKING THE HOTEL

After you have arranged all the above and booked your hotel, there are still a number of things to do to avoid an unpleasant surprise at customs:

1. Complete the mandatory E-Ticket (electronic entry and exit form) online before your flight.

2. Have your confirmed round-trip or onward ticket ready.

3. Have proof of sufficient funds to cover your stay.

4. The mandatory Tourist Fee is usually included in the price of your airfare.

Have all those documents plus your passport and visa (if applicable) at hand for presentation to the customs officials upon your arrival.
