Before you book a trip to the Dominican Republic (DR), check if you meet all the requirements:
PASSPORT. You will need a valid passport. Be sure it is valid for a minimum of 6 months beyond your intended date of entry.
VISA. Citizens of the majority of countries in the Western Hemisphere and Europe DO NOT need a visa for tourist stays up to 30 days. Citizens of certain countries, primarily in Asia, Africa, and some Eastern European nations, DO need a visa.
EXEMPTIONS: If you are a citizen of a country that requires a visa, you will not need one if you hold a valid visa or residence card from the United States (including a U.S. Green Card), Canada, the United Kingdom, or any Schengen Area member state.
SANITARY REQUIREMENTS: No mandatory general vaccines are required. Yellow Fever vaccination is only mandatory if arriving from a country with endemic Yellow Fever.

Have all those documents plus your passport and visa (if applicable) at hand for presentation to the customs officials upon your arrival.
