LOVE WITH ADRENALINE IN DOMINICA
A love story full of adrenaline while discovering this fascinating island. See Below
Dominica is unlike any other Caribbean island. Known as “The Nature Island,” it is a haven for travelers seeking unspoiled beauty, lush rainforests, and breathtaking volcanic landscapes. Unlike its neighbors, Dominica is not about endless stretches of sandy beaches, but about adventure, discovery, and a deep connection with nature.
The island is a paradise for hikers and outdoor enthusiasts. Dominica is home to the Waitukubuli National Trail, the longest walking trail in the Caribbean, which winds through mountains, valleys, and traditional villages. Whether you’re trekking to a cascading waterfall or climbing towards the peaks of a volcano, every step reveals the island’s raw and authentic charm.
Volcanic activity has also shaped some of Dominica’s most remarkable attractions. The Boiling Lake, the world’s second-largest hot spring, is a natural wonder that fascinates visitors from across the globe. Along the way, you can encounter bubbling mud pools, steaming vents, and an otherworldly atmosphere that feels like stepping into a different world.
For those who love water, Dominica offers something unique. Instead of endless beaches, you’ll find dramatic cliffs, hidden coves, and rivers flowing from the mountains straight into the sea. Snorkeling and diving around Dominica are unforgettable experiences, as the island’s underwater world is as vibrant as its landscapes, with colorful coral reefs, volcanic formations, and abundant marine life.
Dominica is not about luxury resorts or crowded beaches—it is about authenticity. It’s the Caribbean at its most untouched and wild, where travelers can escape into nature, reconnect with themselves, and experience the region in a way that feels truly different.

LOVE WITH ADRENALINE IN DOMINICA
I always liked to have contact with nature, especially with a fair dose of adrenaline. Either mountains, lakes, forests, sea… Wherever there was an untouched portion of the nature were I could connect with it there was a good place to spend some time. And some drops of emotion would make the experience even better.
Because of this passion of mine, I became a member of an adventurer’s club so I could, from time to time have my dose of nature with adrenaline. There I found a man with the same passion. After we shared a number of adventures together, we started to meet outside the club. As time passed, the inevitable happened: we got married.
The marriage filled both of our lives with love. But we had a child, the responsibilities came and so out passion to adventures went low in our list of priorities. I missed it. My husband too. Then we decided we had the right to spend a week in a place where we could connect with nature again. My mother was kind enough to take care our little John during our week out.
We landed in Dominica on a cloudy morning, the kind of sky that promises mystery. The airport was small, almost shy, and the air smelled like wet leaves and salt. A local guide greeted us with a smile and a jeep that looked like it had survived a dozen adventures — perfect. The adrenaline became part of our visit right from the start.
We did not even enjoy the welcome drink offered by the reception of the hotel. We just threw our luggage in our room, changed our clothes and went right away to our first adventure: a hike through the rainforest to reach Trafalgar Falls. The trail was muddy, slippery, and alive. Vines hung like invitations, and the sound of birds echoed like laughter. When we reached the twin waterfalls, we stood in silence. The mist kissed our faces, and I felt something awaken — not just in me, but in us. Adventure was back. The Nature was there, greeting our presence. The passion for nature and adventure revived inside me in its maximum level. And for my husband as well.
The next day, we kayaked down the Layou River, dodging rocks and laughing like teenagers. At night, we soaked in hot springs under the stars, surrounded by steam and silence. It was the kind of silence that speaks. Relax in the warm water watching the star under the moonlight. How could the end of that day be more romantic?
On the next day, we dared to hike to Boiling Lake. It was brutal. Steep climbs, sulfur smells, and a fog that made the world feel like a dream. The dream of a couple of adventurers. But when we reached the crater and saw the lake bubbling like a living thing, we held hands and cried. Not from exhaustion — from reconnection. The nature in all of its splendor just before of our eyes. Back to the hotel we were worn out. But willing for more adventures on the following days.
On the next day we took a canyoning tour — rappelling down waterfalls, sliding through narrow gorges, and plunging into cold, clear pools. I screamed. He laughed. And somewhere between the mossy rocks and the echo of rushing water, we kissed like it was the first time.
In the afternoon, we drifted down a lazy river in inner tubes, letting the current carry us through tunnels of green. No words. Just the sound of water and the occasional birdcall. It was the calm after the storm — and we needed it. Once again we were drained when we came back to our room. But it was not enough. Not yet. We needed more.
On the next day we chartered a small boat to explore the coastline. The cliffs rose like ancient guardians, and hidden coves appeared like secrets. We snorkeled over coral gardens, where fish moved like confetti and time dissolved into color. At one point, a sea turtle swam beside us — slow, graceful, eternal. After a meal of seafood in the boat, more snorkeling at the afternoon. The explosion of life and colors was unforgettable. In spite of my great love for my kid I missed that too. I really needed that opportunity to share energy with the nature.
On the next day we decided to kayak at the sea. Sailing along the coast we found a deserted beach. No footprints. No noise. Just us, the wind, and the waves. We built a fire, grilled fresh fish, and, after a day enjoying the sea, we laid down on the sand. That tiny sand just for us. No one around. The soft sand with the scent of the sea. Nature called us. We made love in that place. An explosion of feelings that I never thought it was possible before that experience. After that watched the sun melt into the sea. We sailed back our kayaks under the light of the moon. I never thought I could do such a crazy thing. That night, we slept in a hammock strung between two palms, wrapped in each other and the scent of salt.
The last day came. Too bad. But it was inevitable. We put our things in the luggage, brought them to the reception and checked out. But there was some time left for a last adventure, before taking the plane that would lead us back to our routine. We hiked to a lookout point we had heard about from a local. It wasn’t on any map. The trail was steep and overgrown, but we followed the sound of the wind until we reached the top. From there, the island unfolded below us — rivers like silver threads, the ocean like a sheet of glass, and the jungle breathing in slow rhythm.
We stood there for a long time, holding hands, saying nothing. We didn’t need to. We had found what we came for — not just adrenaline, but reconnection. With nature. With each other. With ourselves.
But now it was time to go. A taxi drove us to the airport giving us a glimpse of what we would leave behind and probably come back for another dose. When we boarded the plane, I looked at him and smiled. “Let’s not wait so long next time.” He nodded. “Next time, we bring John.”
