Summary
Summary
Celedor has little memory of his former life. He has the vaguest memories that are more like flashes of images than clear remembrances: of a large storm, of drowing friends, and of being on a large ship that was pulled below the waves by large, black tentacles. His next memories were of the fading light as he sunk deeper into the sea and his life slipped away.
Then, he was alive again. Breathing somehow, despite now lying on the sea floor, but with no knowledge of who he was. In the blackness, he could now see. An entity that referred to itself as Architeuthidae [Ark-eh-tooth-eh-day] came forth and made a pact with him: in exchange for returning his memories, they would call on them one day and they would have to answer.
Celedor agreed, felt himself imbued with new powers he could hardly comprehend, and then everything faded to that same darkness as Architeuthidae retreated back into the black. Moments later, he found himself lying on a beach. A kind wizard named Aldor took him in, and found medical treatment and lodging in a town called Narta.
Aldor promised to check back in a few weeks, and when he returned the kind wizard took Celedor under his wing. While he’s not quite sure where the path will lead him, he hopes something on his travels will jog his family and bring back his old life.
