SHEDU FUNDAMENTAL TRAINING

Street Racing

Shedu street racing is an incredibly tough and hard to master sport. It is also very dangerous for both cats and people involved. And it is illegal.

****As such, a cat must have both their Core Training and Street Basics completed before proceeding further into Street Racing SFT.

These exercises are done on the rough and tumble streets. Often in places where law enforcement are rarely seen and never welcomed: abandoned factories, run down urban decay, and low life level noisy districts are the common areas for training.

GETTING READY FOR EACH TYPE OF RACE:

Rooftop Racing

Rooftop racing is really what the name implies: cats are asked to race across the rooftops of a city setting.

This race type tests the physical abilities of both handler and cat, while also challenging their planning and problem solving.

Making a mistake can have brutal consequences–and don’t forget the potential law enforcement following close behind!

This type of street racing is considered to be most challenging and hard to master.

Not every rider and not every cat are born to do this. Taking part in these races require not only skill but also two fearless souls with daredevil attitude.

Benefit:

Cancel the initial rolls for falls, fatal and serious injuries, in Rooftop Races. “Know your cat” section will give additional points in some of the Rooftop Race competitions.

Conditions:

Street racing training is very open to the interpretation of an individual and what their story is.

However it must be clear that the setting is within an urban area and hidden from prying eyes.

Vehicle Duels, Straight Route Races & Speed Tests

These types of races are high pace and meant to challenge the speed of the racers.

Vehicle duels are always sprints: very short races, that are run in a straight line. A vehicle drives parallel to the cat, never crossing paths with the animal.
Another version of a vehicle duel is a "barrel race": two parallel tracks with two sharp turns around markers and longer sprinting distance to the finish line.

Straight Route Races are the races that go from point A to point B and the route is easy going, with almost no sharp turns. These races can go for longer distance, but they do not require a lot of maneuvering and main challenge is to keep the right balance between speed and stamina of the cat.
Speed Tests are a very specific kind of race. Rider and the cat race against the clock, often without any other participants. The route is set, speed readers are set (or existing ones get hacked and transmit the data to the hacker) and the team strives for the best time.

Whatever the race type, the competition can get dirty and with all street races, sabotage is almost a given between competitors.
Even if the particular race is supervised by criminal "hosts", you should never put your guard down. And your cat should be properly trained and be able to help you out or fend for themselves. Do not leave your rivals any chances.

Benefit:

Cancel the initial rolls for falls, fatal and serious injuries, in various Street Races. “Know your cat” section will give additional points in some of various Street Race competitions.

For these particular race types training city outskirts, deserts, empty abandoned highways can also be used as a legit training ground.

Rogue Races & Cross Country Races

Rogue races are often the lowest tier street races. A lot of newbies or newcomers in the area can be found there. These races are often held in outskirts of the cities: it both feels more familiar to cats as there is less noise, weird city crowds and objects, but also there is far less guidance and security as it's literally no man's land. Due to this there is a high chance of sabotage or foul play in these races.

It is a place where green riders and cats can get their tickets to higher tiers of street racing, making themselves known. Reputation is everything on the streets.

Benefit: Cancel the initial rolls for falls, fatal and serious injuries, in Rogue Races. “Know your cat” section will give additional points in some of Rogue Race competitions.

City Races & Drift Races

City races can be quite gritty and cats need to be able to keep their footing in often tight spaces and through varying city terrain. City races focus on being able to dodge traffic and scale obstacles generally while also running shoulder to shoulder with law enforcement. It is hot paced with a great deal of danger.
Drift racing takes this idea a step further, asking cat and handler to survive breakneck turns and drops. Being proficient with these maneuvers can often determine whether or not a team will leave the race without handcuffs or serious (even fatal) injuries.

Benefit: Cancel the initial rolls for falls, fatal and serious injuries, in City/Drift Races. “Know your cat” section will give additional points in some of City/Drift Race competitions.

Street Racing - Know Your Cat :

Each section is two images total. For each prompt beneath, draw your cat taking part in all of the option races/prompts that gets compared.

Group hosted events will list their Race Type clearly. Your entry will receive bonus points if the Race Type matches your Shedu's preferences.

1. CLASSIC RACES vs ROUND/CIRCLE RACES (fast against slower race paces)

 (2 images total)

CLASSIC RACES

Classic races are always held from point A to B, often without a lot of sharp turns. Classic races are often a test of cats' natural potential rather than tactics and control skills of riders.

They are often shorter than round races.

ROUND/CIRCLE RACES

These races are set in circles, when teams run through the same route a few times. “A circle” can happen to be just a few streets in the city or a real car racing track in its off-work hours or guts of an abandoned factory - anything that gives you that repeating route.

These races require a lot of stamina, skills, a lot of thinking and tactics. They might be a bit less fast, but they are no less dangerous and often packed with experienced riders who got bored of mindless dashes through the city.

2. ROOFTOP RACES vs VEHICLE DUELS

 (2 images total)

ROOFTOP RACES

Rooftop races are about agility and acrobatics more than about speed. Cat should be strong and with good stamina. Rooftop races can be of a round race class, but this is a rare occasion.

VEHICLE DUELS

Vehicle duels are speed tests. Forcing cats to run straight lines as fast as they can. Sometimes vehicle duels might include a few drift-like sharp turns to spice up the competition. But vehicle duels are very fast, short and are never done in circle/round style.

3. SPEED TESTS vs ROGUE RACES

 (2 images total)

SPEED TESTS

Speed tests are straight races (your classic race from point A to B, open roads, very few sharp turns, a lot of speed) that test cats for speed, often running solo against speed recorders.

ROGUE RACES

Rogue races are often very crowded. They do not have a certain strict route–only a start and finish point.  (If the area has a potential for a lot of  big shortcuts - then a few mid-route checkpoints will also take place). Very messy races with a lot of sabotage going on. These are normally hosted out of the city and off roads.

4. CITY RACES vs CROSS COUNTRY RACES

 (2 images total)

CITY RACES

City races are all races that are hosted inside the city, or on roads.

CROSS COUNTRY RACES

Cross country races - off roads, out of city races.

5. DRIFT RACES vs HIGHWAY RACES

 (2 images total)

DRIFT RACES

Drift races are normally city races with a lot of sharp turns, asking for a lot of skill and agility. Drift races are done in crowds, never solo races.

HIGHWAY RACES

Highway races are often speed tests or vehicle duel class races. There are almost no sharp turns, but often going fast, in group or solo against speed readers.
