Any promotion or demotion must be reported with the appropriate username(s), the relevant ranks, and evidence.
Obtaining a rank via meeting requirements, rank restorations, rank purchasing, and hand-picked promotions are some of the different ways to get promoted.
Fulfilling Rank Requirements | Must submit adequate evidence in #promotions that the applicant satisfies the requirements; for Jedi Knights and Instructors, complete the trial format in #trial_logs. An example is below:

Rank Restorations | A Jedi Councilor must in some way approve rank restorations. Individuals affected by potential group AA attacks, the 24-hour ranking policy, and displacement are included in rank restorations (given the wrong rank, etc.).
Unretirement | Those who wish to unretire must receive permission from a Jedi Councilor; in #promotions, show documentation of the Jedi Councilor's approval. For more information on retirement, please refer to Quota/Retirement Expectations.
Demotions come in a variety of forms, such as losing one's current rank due to infractions, votes, retirement, disownment (renunciation) of a Padawan, requests, being banned/exiled, and AA.
Retirements | When logging, the targeted person's retirement message must be provided.
Admin Abuse | Inform a Jedi Councilor to strike or demote them (if you wish, ask if you can do it yourself; in which case provide an approval screenshot).
Padawan Disownment | Must include in the log the number of Padawans the master currently has (i.e. the Padawan count) and provide either a Padawan's or Master's confirmation of the release of the master or Padawan.
Requested Demotions | Anyone in the Order may request a Jedi Master+ to demote them to a previous rank they've had. Jedi Councillor+ authorisation required.
Ranklocks | Anyone who is a Pledge+ in the Temple Guard group may request a ranklock to the Temple Guard rank. If they do, then make sure to check their ranks. Only Vanguard+ in the TG or Jedi Knight+ in the main Order may unranklock.
