The examples that follow offer advice on how to handle each one in the most straightforward and stress-free manner. The following scenarios should be handled using these standard procedures.
[JM] Tip: If you're unable to come up with ideas for theoretical scenarios for Jedi Instructor trials, these scenarios can help you out!
The warning system is frequently the most effective way to deal with chat spammers, particularly those who also use the caps lock. Depending on how quickly/many words/characters are transmitted in a brief period of time, the threshold for punishment will change.
When detected, persistent spammers who intend to overwhelm the system should be immediately kicked/banned (when the chat is severely flooded causing server lag).
It is always an automatic ban from the server when dealing with exploiters. However, it is advised that you obtain observational or witness proof in circumstances when you are unsure whether there is an exploiter (either from others via a report or yourself). Following the targeted person's ban, always record the reason(s) why as usual. On top of that, notify a Jedi Master+ about the exploiter immediately.
Server lag, flying, teleporting, increased walk-speed, instant-killing, user control, and in-game exploit scripts like endless health/Force, among other methods, are examples of exploiting.
There are no custom sabers that can "one-shot" (kill an individual in one hit) anyone, on any game. Anyone who tells you otherwise (other than a developer or reputed custom seller) is not to be believed and action must be taken against them.
Tips with Exploiters |Â
When you log their username, make sure you directly target them because some exploiters use "all, random, others" in their aliases to trick you into unintentionally banning the server, etc.
If an exploiter is banned from a server that is hosting an ongoing event (training, a tryout, etc.), :slock on can be used to ensure that the exploiter doesn't return using a different alias. This avoids additional disruption of the aforementioned event. :slock off must be done when the event is over.
Keep the names of specific exploiters in logs or even chat rooms for the benefit of the community so that they can be recognized and stopped on other servers.
Evidence of admin abuse should always be gathered when dealing with any abusers of admin privileges, particularly Jedi Instructors and Masters. Use the command :logs or :showlogs in-game and type the username of the player who is allegedly misusing the admin privileges.
What signs should you look for to identify administrative abuse or misuse?
As anticipated of any moderator, it is always advised to log commands after executing them to ensure fair accountability. Check a person's admin history to see if they use any forbidden or grey commands; if not, look for commands they failed to properly log or utilize (that can be considered misusage).
Always inform a Jedi Councilor if you discover any directives that have been abused or exploited. The only parties that need to be involved in AA cases should be the offender and the Jedi Council.
Always report staff misconduct to a member of the Jedi Council with solid evidence.
The same holds true for standard moderation directives. Use caution while using commands like :n/:setmsg/:pm/:to/:tp/:bring/:re. These commands are not intended to be used for any type of leisure. Although using :setmsg to create a welcoming message for players in-game is highly encouraged to promote a positive environment.
Spawn abusing is when an individual fights and then immediately retreats to the spawn in an attempt to save themselves from dying. This practice is prohibited and similar to spawn killers, spawn abusers are to be warned. The warning system should always be used to handle spawn abusers. Spawn abusers need to be instantly respawned and then warned.
It is usually preferable to resolve the problem rather than escalate it when two or more parties are acting disrespectfully by exchanging insulting or harsh statements, comments, or speculations.
Most of the time, when there is disrespect being displayed by both parties, you should communicate with both (or more than one party) to resolve the issue rather than trying to escalate the situation or siding with just one side. This is especially true if you do not fully grasp the situation. The greatest way to let them know that their actions could result in punishment is to say it out loud.
As always, when things spiral out of control, contact a Jedi Councillor for help and have them issue the punishment accordingly.
