Courage is the ability to do something, even when it frightens you. When I was growing up, I always thought superheroes had the greatest courage. But then I realized, someone like Superman can't really get hurt! So he probably isn't that afraid.
We make decisions to do things every day that can make us fearful. Here are some examples:
Asking a new friend to play at recess.
Introducing yourself to a neighbor.
Trying something new or difficult.
Courage doesn't mean you don't have fear, it means that somewhere, deep down in your heart, you have decided that the thing you are trying is so important, you are going to face your fears and try anyway!
