As a preparation of incoming face-to-face classes, students and staff of Don Alejandro Roces Sr. Science Technology High School (DARSSTHS) participated in the Brigada Eskwela Kick-off Program with the theme: “Tugon sa Hamon ng Ligtas na Balik-Aral.“ It was held on campus last August 3, 2022, at 8 a.m. The opening event consisted of a motorcade parade, a Zumba event, and a program where a few guest speakers came to give inspirational messages and where the schedules of each Brigada Eskwela activity were announced. The kick-off ends by providing a small medical mission for the present community, as one of these years, Brigada Eskwela aims to assure firm foundation healthcare for the youth.

Everyone from the school had a part to play in order to make this event a success. For instance, the school principal, Dr. Quirino P. Sapon Jr., says that he, as the overall chairman, needs to spearhead the Brigada Eskwela to prepare the school holistically, not just for the classrooms but also for the teachers and students as well. Multiple members of our school's cooperative and the School Parent-Teacher Association (SPTA) also made donations to the school and volunteered for the different jobs needed for this Brigada. Along with the faculty members and parents, students from various school clubs also came to join in the motorcade parade, which aims to campaign for the Brigada Eskwela program and invite others in the community to join.

This kick-off program was held with the help of multiple school partners. Though there were difficulties, such as the challenge of the pandemic and time constraints due to their short span of time to prepare the activities, the event was still put together successfully.

The program also opened questions about the face-to-face classes on Aug. 22, 2022. While many still have doubts, such as Ms. Janel Katrice Tan, the Head of the Senior Scouts of Roces, who said, “Since we still have COVID and the monkeypox virus is on the rise, I'm still concerned for our health and safety. Even though I'm missing face-to-face classes, I'm still concerned.” Some are already happy about our advancement towards the new normal. Mrs. Claire M. Ella, the School Partnership Focal Person, said that she thinks the face-to-face classes will recharge us and will make it easier for the students to learn due to the convenience of being in the classroom and being able to ask questions easily.
