Certifying as a NRA Instructor is the first step in teaching concealed carry in New Mexico or in Texas (NMCCW or TXLTC). The NRA Instructor certification remains the “Gold Standard”, and is the most widely accepted firearms instructor certification in the United States.
Instructor candidates are required to: pass the NRA Basics of Pistol Shooting Course (Online Blended or Instructor-Led training); complete gun-handling evaluations on single-action and double-action revolvers, as well as semi-automatic handguns; and complete marksmanship qualification as part of the application process.
During our three day training course candidates learn: NRA policies and procedures; basic public speaking and classroom facilitation skills; training methodologies; use of training teams and training aids; how to organize a course and build a budget; and how to prepare to teach a class. Candidates work in groups and in teams to solve problems and teach portions of the NRA Basics of Pistol Shooting Course.
