Prerequisite: NRA Basics of Pistol Shooting Course (90% overall score)
This is where everyone begins, regardless of prior experience. Pre-Course Evaluations must be conducted with the NRA Training Counselor you will certify with, including: Gun-Handling on SA/DA Revolvers and Semi-Auto pistols; 45-foot Marksmanship Qualification; and submission of a Pre-Course Questionnaire.

Instructor Candidates must pass a 50-round timed course of fire, after successfully completing classroom training, to certify.

The NRA DP Student Course does not have a formal prerequisite. To teach NRA DP, NRA Instructors must be PPITH and PPOTH Certified (Formerly NRA Advanced Certified Pistol Instructor Rating)
