This NRA sanctioned course is recommended for anyone who uses a defensive handgun for personal protection (inside or outside their home) to develop the knowledge, skills and attitude for confident, ethical and responsible use of a defensive handgun.
Students learn and immediately apply intermediate defensive shooting skills to develop the defensive mindset and the handgun proficiency required to win a gunfight, such as: The NRA rules for safe gun handling; The four levels of mental awareness; The physiological effects of a threat engagement; Deploying the handgun from a concealed holster; Clearing common handgun stoppages; Appropriate use of cover and concealment; Reloading the handgun under stress; Defensive shooting techniques; and multiple round threat engagements.
NRA Defensive Pistol Qualification is a timed, 34 round course of fire. This course requires students to move, kneel, squat, and assume awkward positions. Accommodations for Adaptive Shooting are provided, as needed.
