CARBINE - ZERO (BEGINNER) IS NOT A SHOOTING COURSE.
COMPETENCY
No prior formal training is expected, but students must have an AR-15 MSR of their own to participate. The rifle must be equipped with mechanical sights. Optical sights are not used in Carbine Level-0.
Carbine Rifle: Level-0 provides an entry-level introduction to the AR-15 MSR platform. This course is designed for students who have no previous experience or knowledge in operating the AR-15.
PURPOSE
This course develops the necessary safety awareness and technical competence needed to safely and effectively maintain and operate the AR-15.
WHAT YOU DO
Students apply standard rules of safe gun handling; describe the functions and components of the MSR; disassemble, maintain, and reassemble the MSR; perform function checks; load magazines; and load and unload the MSR.
Students are introduced to workspace management, and loading and clearing rifle stoppages using dummy ammunition in the classroom environment. ZERO experience expected!
Instruction includes information on aiming using IRON sights. Your Rifle MUST have mechanical sights. We do NOT address Optical Sights or Scopes in Carbine Level-0. You may not have an Optical Sight mounted on the gun when you arrive.
COST
Cost is $150 per person (includes 8-hours of training, student materials, and student fees).
REQUIRED GEAR
An AR-15 MSR with Iron Sights or MBUS sights, the operator manual for the rifle, three rifle magazines; positive behavior and the expectation to learn are provided by each student.
