Mandatory Events

  • All team members should attend the FIRST kickoff, usually the first Saturday in January, but occasionally the second Saturday when the first falls on January 1 or January 2.
  • Team members are expected to attend at least the second and third days of all Regional Competitions. These events take place in March or early April; specific dates will be announced as soon as FIRST publishes them - early October at the latest.
  • Team members are expected to attend the three yearly all-hands meetings:
    • The Fall meeting will be on the last Saturday of August. This meeting will concern plans for the Fall semester: FRC off-season competition, FTC season, and recruitment of volunteers from seasoned team members.
    • The Winter meeting will be in early December and concern plans and expectations for the FIRST Build Season.
    • The Spring meeting will be on the Saturday meeting following our final competition. During this meeting, we will do a debrief of the competition season.
  • At least one parent or guardian for each student is required to attend the three yearly parents’ meetings:
    • The first will be the all-hands meeting on the last Saturday of August (see above). Parents of students who participated on the team in previous years will be requested to fulfill key volunteering roles, including trip planners for the fall competitions.
    • The second will be on the first Saturday of November and will: introduce parents of new members to FIRST and Team 766 leadership, address team expectations, and recruit new parent volunteers for the FRC season.
    • The third will be on the first Saturday of February and will concern travel arrangements for attending the FRC competitions in the spring.
  • Team members with certain roles on the team (Drive Team and Pit Crew) will be required to attend the load-in and preparation day (Thursday or Friday) of Regional competitions and Wednesday of the FIRST Championships.
