STAY X GET

Este é mais um post da nossa série sobre a diferença entre duas palavras. As palavras da vez são stay e get.

Em alguns casos você pode escolher sem mudar o significado:

• I stay/get very sad every time a dog dies in a movie./Eu fico muito triste toda vez que um cachorro morre num filme.

• You stay/get hungry every time you talk about food./Você fica com fome toda vez que você fala de comida

Mudando o significado:

You can’t stay/get there.

Quando usado nessa situação o stay significa ficar. Já o get é chegar.

TAKE x GET

Get-

Obter-He got me this shirt./Ele me arrumou essa camisa.

Comprar- I got a car./Eu comprei um carro.

Ganhar-I got my salary today./Eu ganhei meu salário hoje.

receber-I got a lot of post-cards today./Eu recebi muitas cartas hoje.

Alcançar-Some day I'll get to that level.

Ficar doente-I got the flu./Eu peguei gripe.

Começar a ser-Try to get a little more polite, will you?/Tente ficar um pouco mais educado, sim?

Lidar com-How do you get the kids to behave so well?/Como você faz as crianças se comportarem tão bem?

Ter a chance de- You should get a chance! You're the best player in the team!/Você deveria ter uma chance! Você é o melhor jogador do time!

Take-

Remover-Take this off the floor./Tira isso do chão.

Mover-Could you take that picture out of my sight?!/Você poderia tirar essa foto da minha frente ?!

Aceitar –I will have to take this in order to bring peace./Eu vou ter que aceitar isso para trazer paz.

Segurar-take this for me./Segura isso pra mim.

levar -I don't want to take her with me. She's annoying!/Eu não quero levá-la comigo. Ela é irritante!

Transportar-Please, take my dog to the vet./Por favor, leve meu cachorro ao veterinário.
