TA-14 Academy Interpretive Framework
NERIC establishes a structured method for interpreting HVAC system performance records without altering the original measurements or introducing system intrusion.
NERIC is not a field procedure.
It is applied after measurement has been completed.
The record is preserved.
Interpretation does not modify it.
NERIC maintains a strict separation between:
Observed system behavior (measurement)
Interpretation of that behavior (classification)
In conventional workflows, measurement and interpretation are often combined.
This leads to:
Assumptions influencing data collection
Inconsistent conclusions between technicians
Loss of evidentiary integrity
NERIC removes this overlap.
It ensures that:
What was measured remains unchanged,
and what is concluded is clearly separated.
NERIC is part of a structured system:
HVAC System Performance Record
→ Captures system behavior in sequence
→ Classifies system behavior based on recorded data
→ Performed only after interpretation is complete
NERIC evaluates recorded system data and classifies behavior using:
Thermal relationships
Airflow indicators
Electrical performance
Mechanical condition
Stability over time
It produces:
A consistent classification of system behavior
A structured interpretation of recorded conditions
A repeatable framework for review
NERIC does not:
Collect new measurements
Modify recorded values
Require system access
Perform adjustments or corrections
NERIC does not act on the system.
It acts on the record of the system.
NERIC enforces:
Separation of observation and conclusion
Consistency across reviewers
Reduction of interpretation variability
Preservation of evidentiary continuity
Multiple reviewers should be able to analyze the same record and reach consistent outcomes.
NERIC produces one of three classifications:
System Behavior Consistent
System Behavior Indeterminate
System Behavior Not Within Expected Range
These outcomes are based solely on recorded measurements.
NERIC operates on:
Completed HVAC System Performance Records
It does not replace the record.
It interprets it.
NERIC is not a shortcut for diagnosis.
It is a controlled interpretive layer that ensures:
Evidence remains intact
Interpretation remains consistent
Action remains justified
Environmental Integrity begins with structured measurement discipline.
