A Letter of Intent (LOI) is a required step for any member seeking promotion to Senior Deputy or higher within the Syn County Sheriff’s Office Main Force. The purpose of the LOI is to enable deputies to explain why they are ready for the next rank clearly, highlight their abilities, and demonstrate how they can take on additional responsibilities within the department.
Your LOI should reflect a solid understanding of the rank you are applying for, including its duties, expectations, and place within the Sheriff’s Office command structure. This is your opportunity to showcase your experience, work ethic, leadership potential, and commitment to supporting and mentoring others while maintaining professionalism and accountability.
Members must follow all promotion guidelines. Deputies are required to wait at least three weeks between promotions, may not skip ranks, and should not rush advancement. Promotions are earned through consistent performance, growth, and readiness. Submitting an LOI demonstrates your commitment to the department, respect for the process, and desire to grow into greater responsibility within Syn County.
