Coaching Math Minds with Purpose and Strategy
Social science is both an art and a science. Human behavior can be changed with intentional and strategic effort. In my proposal, I aim to implement an online blended coaching model for math academic coaches. Key influencers in this initiative include the Elementary Executive Director, Teaching and Learning Director, campus principals, and the academic coaches themselves. My goal is to activate all six sources of influence to ensure the project's success.
A clearly defined outcome and a thoughtful application of influence sources will provide the clarity and structure needed to lead meaningful organizational change. Grenny et. al (2013) shares that it's important to know the results you are after and measure them. He also reminds us that good measures inform and drive behavior. The vital behaviors identified below are designed to drive the behavioral shifts necessary to bring the online blended coaching strategy to life.
By the 2026-2027 academic year, 100% of academic coaches will implement a comprehensive Online Blended Coaching Strategy for elementary math campuses that empowers learners to take ownership of their education, fosters meaningful collaboration, integrates technology, and promotes social capital, all while continuously reflecting on and refining their teaching practices, resulting in a 30% increase in student achievement as measured by math MAP assessment and district assessments.
It is important to identify vital behaviors that will ensure your goals are met (Grenny et. al, 2013).
