Project: HSIP SR 24 at Mount Joy Road and SR 24 at Bay Farm Road Intersection Improvements

Project Description:

Widen to provide turn lanes at SR 24/Mount Joy Road/Oak Orchard Road and SR 24/Bay Farm Road/Autumn Lane.

Project Justification:

This project is identified as a high crash location as part of the Delaware Department of Transportation (DelDOT) Highway Safety Improvement Program (HSIP). Recommendations were made from the SR 24, SR 30 to Love Creek Traffic Study performed in November 2010. The study determined the need for operational improvements to address safety deficiencies and to accommodate future traffic volumes.

Project Timeline:

• Construction Start Date: Spring 2021

• Construction End Date: 2023

Project Update:

Design and right of way acquisition are underway. Some advanced utility relocation work began in Spring 2020. Roadway construction is anticipated to begin in the spring of 2021.
