Let's Add DART Bus Stops in Angola Neck

Latest Update - Roads in Angola Area NOT Suitable for DART Buses

The DelDOT report says after the review of the roads:

The most visible challenge is the roadway as parts of Angola Road and Camp Arrowhead Road lack of shoulders, and it will need to be confirmed if the roadways are built to a standard that can handle the frequent heavy vehicular travel of a bus. Additionally, the lack of pedestrian pathways (i.e., sidewalks, shared use path) inhibits the creation of ADA compliant bus stops, and the lack of pedestrian crossings prevent riders from completing a round trip.

Transportation for all! Relax and enjoy the ride.

“Public transit provides a basic mobility service to these persons and to all others without access to a car. . . . Public transportation also helps to reduce road congestion and travel times, air pollution, and energy and oil consumption, all of which benefit both riders and non-riders alike.” –apta.com

“Public Transportation Is a Safer Way to Travel Than by Automobile. A person can reduce his or her chance of being in an accident by more than 90% simply by taking public transit as opposed to commuting by car.”

We are spear heading a project to work with DART to request they extend their public bus route to vear off Rt 24 onto Camp Arrowhead Rd then to Angola Rd, then back onto Rt 24 and add a few bus stops along this new route.

Currently the closest bus stops to access public transit are at Peddler’s Village and Holly Lake Campground. These stops are dangerous to travel to by bike or on foot, especially during peak travel times and when it is dark.

The added stops on this route will allow riders to use public DART transportation to get to the Lewes and Rehoboth Park-n- Rides, which would connect the folks in this area to all the local beach destinations.

This concept is PERFECT for keeping additional traffic off of Rt 24 which is already way too congested!

  • These bus stops will offer our youth & workforce transportation to jobs in the resort areas.

  • Allow people to get shopping and outlets and not have to fight for parking spots.

  • Spend the day at the beach or boardwalk and not have to feed the meter.

These same bus stops will also allow riders to access bus travel west, which will take you to Long Neck stops that includes grocery stores, pharmacy’s, dining, Massey’s Landing & doctors offices.

You may be wondering, how much is it to ride The DART bus?

  • 1-zone Adult tickets are $2.00!

  • Children under 46’ & the Blind ride FREE

  • Students under 17 with ID ride for just $1.00!

John J Highway is already so congested and the upcoming construction is sure to add delays. So, why not jump on the bus and get to your destination without the stress of driving in the traffic mess? Save gas and keep your carbon footprint tiny.
