A Tribute to Jack Kirby
Los Angeles, CA (13/07/2024)
Whether you hold an interest in comic books or not, I guarantee that you will recognise Jack Kirby’s artistic influence. Widely recognized as one of the most influential creators in comic book history, Jack’s prolific journey across the decades has heavily influenced how comics books have evolved. Some of the most well-known characters that he created, or co-created, include Captain America, the Fantastic Four, the Avengers, the X-Men, the Hulk, Darkseid and the New Gods. Yet this is only the tip of his creative iceberg. The “scope of Kirby’s contributions to pop culture at large” is an incredible feat – one which Corey Helford Gallery, partnering with Jack Kirby Museum & Research Center, are celebrating on June 29th.
To celebrate, Corey Helford Gallery will be hosting a large group exhibition featuring over 70 artists alongside original works by Jack Kirby himself. Each artist has created a bespoke new work inspired by Jack Kirby, celebrating the worlds and characters he has created, and the influence this has had on them. Meticulously curated, the artists exhibiting are some of the best in the New Contemporary art scene. The array of well-known visuals, reinterpreted in multiple styles, promises to be a fascinating journey as you walk around Corey Helford Gallery; this isn’t to be missed!
