Grade 9-12
Student Handbook

Dear Students, Parents and Families,

Welcome to another academic year here at the Frankfurt International School community. Whether you are a returning student or new to our learning community, please know that you are important members of our Upper School. We hope the year(s) ahead are full of new opportunities and adventures.

FIS is a mission-driven school: to inspire young individuals to develop their intellect, creativity to become independent, socially responsible and internationally minded citizens by ensuring a dynamic, inquiry-driven education of the highest standard. These expectations are for every student in our community, and it is our expectation that you will strive to achieve your very best in your learning journey with us. In return, our faculty and staff will work tirelessly to help you achieve your potential and nurture your talents by providing a strong and cohesive school community.

This handbook is a guide to help you understand your role and the role of others in our school. Contained in this handbook are a number of guidelines and expectations to help you as you progress through from grades 9 – 12. As you read through these guidelines you will find the responsibilities and expectations increase with each academic grade. Understandably, as each of you become more mature, our teachers will expect higher standards - not just in the classroom but also in the greater school community.

FIS prides itself on offering a ‘world of opportunities’ and we hope you take advantage of each and every opportunity that comes your way. We look forward to getting to know you all and working closely with you.

Sincerely,

John Switzer

Upper School Principal
