Annotating Text

Leave Tracks of Thinking

When & Why?

Annotating is a powerful reading tool. As you do research and read for information, you need to leave tracks of your thinking so you can learn, understand, and remember what you read. We need to interact with the text while we read by jotting down our thinking in the margins (or on post-it notes). The marks give you a place to hold your thinking.

Text Codes

We can use text codes to help us interact with the text and make meaning of what we are reading.
