Welcome.

When they buried the children

What they didn’t know

They were lovingly embraced

By the land

Held and cradled in a mother’s heart

The trees wept for them, with the wind

They sang mourning songs their mother’s

didn’t know to sing

bending branches to touch the earth

around them. The creator cried for them

the tears falling like rain

Mother earth held them

Until they could be found.

Now our voices sing the mourning songs

With the trees. the wind. light sacred fire

Ensure they are never forgotten as we sing

JUSTICE

Highlights...Lowlights...Insights...of 2020

We're back! Its 2021 and we are hopeful that this year brings us more joy, more laughter, more time with friends and family, and maybe just maybe vacations!

Taking the time to reflect on 2020 is important. Together we reflect on its highlights, lowlights, and insights.

We started with gratitude. You will see, we created a beautiful list of highlights- we were surprised to see just how many good things did happen to us in 2020. While it is easy to focus on what was taken from us, spending time in gratitude and being thankful for what we did have is an important step in healing.

Next, we thought about the lowlights of 2020. I am so proud of your children. We of course started by reflecting on the pandemic and all of its uncertainty and feelings of disappointment, fear and sadness- because that is what we are living in at the moment, but what was wonderful was your children's ability to look past themselves and notice the events that were happening around the world. They were saddened by the wild fires in Australia, the Helicopter crash that killed Kobe and his daughter and their good friends, and the death of Alex Trebek, they were outraged by police brutality, and taken aback by the protests. They were concerned about the overdoses happening in our Opioid crisis.

Next we took the time to look at what we learned about ourselves, the people around us and the world during 2020. At first our list became an extension of our highlight list- we had way more highlights then we initially thought! Once we carefully looked at our list we recognized the difference between highlights and insights. The circled items are our insights and the arrows indicate highlights.
