Freda (Hanshaw) Rosemiller

Freda Theresa Rosemiller, 84, of Rock Island, passed away Saturday, June 20, 2009 at Trinity Medical Center West, Rock Island. She was the mother of St. James member Freda Heinrich.

The funeral service will be held at St. James on Thursday, June 25, at 10:00 a.m. Burial will be at National Cemetery Rock Island. There will be a time of fellowship following the burial in the Fellowship Hall at St. James. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 24, from 2:00 - 7:00 p.m. at DeRoo Funeral Home in Moline. Gifts in memory of Mrs. Rosemiller can be made to St. James Lutheran Church, American Heart Association, or American Diabetes Association.

Freda was born April 4, 1925 in Rock Island, the daughter of Christian and Fredricka (Ebert) Hanshaw. She married Carl H. Rosemiller on March 23, 1946, in Rock Island. He preceded her in death March 11, 1987.

She had worked at the former Illinois Bell and AT&T for 34 years, retiring in the Special Services Department at AT&T in 1985. She then worked 20 years at H&R Block as a tax preparer, retiring in 2008.

Freda was a member of the Illinois Bell Pioneers and took part in the Talking Books program and All God’s Children Shall Have Shoes. She volunteered for the Arrowhead Ranch Fundraiser, the John Deere Classic for over 20 years and quietly helped at St. James Lutheran Church. Freda enjoyed baking cakes, reading and spending time with her family and grandchildren.

She is survived by her daughters and son in law; Carol (Stephen) Thurman, Galesburg and Freda Heinrich, Rock Island; son, Carl Rosemiller, Rock Island; grandchildren; Chris Skaggs, Beth Showalter, Kelly Guthrie, Shannon Heinrich and Joe Heinrich; 12 great grandchildren; sister, Louise Isenberger, Rock Island and brothers, Chris Hanshaw, Moline and Fred Hanshaw, Rock Island. She was preceded in death by her husband, son in law, David Heinrich, her brother, Hank Hanshaw and her parents.
