Evelyn was born on December 25, 1917 in Riverside, Iowa, a daughter of William and Emma (Knotek) Marek. She married Kenneth J. Rolfs in Davenport in 1953. He preceded her in death in 1996.
Evelyn had taught school in a one room school house after graduating from high school. She later she attended and graduated from AIC business college and became a bookkeeper. She then worked for various businesses in the Quad Cities.
She enjoyed square dancing, ballroom dancing and spending time at her second home at Lake Carroll in Lanark, IL. She also enjoyed traveling, golfing and the years she spent with Amway. She was especially fond of the time she spent with her grandchildren, great granddaughter and all her grand dogs. Evelyn was a member of St. James Lutheran Church, Rock Island.
Survivors include her children, Brian (Rita) Rolfs, Milan, Donna (Matthew) Arnold, Davenport; grandchildren, Jean (Dylan) Johnston, Sean Rolfs and Todd Rolfs; a great granddaughter, Tessa Evelyn Johnston; and a sister, Viola Lyon, East Moline. Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Kenneth; and a brother, Lorence Marek.
