Creating this presentation helped me to understand the aspects of other content areas, and allowed me to bring other content material into my PE class. Physical education is not always a physical lesson. I am here to teach students about being healthy and how to continue being healthy in their outside lives.
Here you will see a powerpoint breaking down the Science of Reading Comprehension. This document was produced because I was researching why some students excel with reading comprehension, and why some may struggle.
This presentation was produced because in PE we occasionally complete worksheets or exit slips that require the students to read and write their opinions. I later use these tools as an assessment to gain knowledge regarding my students learning needs and progress. Working with their education teachers has been helpful, and relates to standard 6D, "understands writing processes and their importance to content learning". It also connects to standard 6H, "understands how to use a variety of formal and informal assessments to recognize and address the reading, writing, and oral communication needs of each student". Participating in PE class provides the students with a brain break, while practicing their skills using a different subject. The gym provides a new location for students to continue their education.
Adding written materials into any PE lesson is beneficial for students because it gives them somewhere to document what they have been learning. This worksheet is important to my development as a teacher because I am creating resources and tools that I can bring into my future classroom. This worksheet is something I can reuse every year, and make changes to as necessary. This is helping me develop my teaching style.
This is a worksheet I used on the 100th day of school on Wednesday February 8th, 2023. The students had been looking forward to this day because of all the fun activities they would get to participate in. I used this worksheet in PE as a way to motivate students and celebrate the exciting day.
The standard that this PE worksheet relates to is 6J, "selects, modifies, and uses a wide range of printed, visual, or auditory materials, and online resources appropriate to the content areas and the reading needs and levels of each student (including ELLs, and struggling and advanced readers)". Using worksheets in PE gives the students a break in between activities, and is a great way to assess student learning. This worksheet shows that students can complete activities to boost their heart rate and improve their physical skills. Using worksheets such as this one allows students to
