I want to know what works, what does not work, what would you like me to add, and how I can make it better. If you changed something, let me know, because it's probably a good idea and you should share it with me, so I can add it and share with everyone else.
This Module or lesson is how I teach in my class. Many of the lessons might be specific to my class, but you could probably adjust them for your class. I'll try to make them a neutral as I can, so they can be used in any Mathematics, Physics, Computer Science, or any other Engineering / Technology class. Let me know how I can make that better. I'll try to keep this unit current and relevant. Please let me know if any resource links are broken or not accessible.

First a note about internet safety: Please don't post your private email, phone number or last name. The Google doc for your Robot Club Engineering Notebook post will have your @metroed.net account as the person posting, so let me know if you ever get creepy emails or comments...
This is my assessment of the work you put into your Robot Club or Open Lab Projects this week. All work will be graded against your participation with your team and the state of your Status Report turned in on the Google site Robot Club or Open Lab Goggle Form (nothing to turn in in IC)
This is a team project, but YOU are responsible to make sure your team has turned in an updated status on your Robot Club Project page
How do I grade this? If I give you an hour to work on your project, I expect that I can see an hour worth of descriptive information in your Status report. I want to see what you did for the time provided, and I want to clearly see that you have a plan for the next steps. Top grades are given for teams that proactively seek out help from me.
While this is a team effort, and most of your grade will be based on your team status report, I will also be noticing your actual participation with your team:
"A+" Level work - Really top level work, where you have explained new code, shown new constructions, used Photos and Images, and even Videos to show your work
"A" or A-" Level work - Good work. I see opportunities for Improvement - Talk to me if you are concerned
"B" Level work - Good work, but you can improve, by adding more Engineering description of work, pictures, diagrams, schematics, etc. Pay attention to the comments I leave in your blog entries or Google Class room and make improvements next time
"C" Level work. - This is Average. to score higher, you need to spend more time describing the work you are doing. Pay attention to the comments I leave in your blog entries or Google Class room and make improvements next time
"D" Level work - When I look at your status document and I can tell you may have made some edits, but clearly the description of work does not match the amount of time you were given,
Failing work - This score is awarded when I see little or no effort on your project or when there is not a status update made.
The Blog Post Title - "First Name - AM/PM - Time - Creative title describing activity"
Blog Post Title Example: Jim - AM - 40 min - The ErectorBot is not driving off the table any more
If you did not work on your "Official" Robot Club Project, then put a more detailed blog entry about what you did. (50-100 words + Pictures and/or links or attached code)

What Did You Learn: 0-50 Points - 50-100 words of what you, you personally, did. You should be descriptive in what you did, and why you did it. You should describe what worked, and what did not. Specifically describe what you learned... what you did not know before. This description needs to account for the amount of time
What Challenges Did You Encounter: 0-20 Points - 20-100 words of what challenges you encountered. What did you have to go learn to accomplish the task? In the next section you can list any links to resources, but in this section you should describe how you over came the challenges you encountered.
Included Pictures or other supporting Material: 0-20 Points - Include pictures, Code you used or code you wrote, and links to references material. This will include material that could be a reference for any one doing this project. It should include any links to articles, YouTube, or resources like Instructables...
Extra Credit: +2 to 5 Points Extra Credit - Specifically point out resources that would be beneficial to other teams doing the same activities. This could be similar to the links above, but specifically would be helpful to some one else. This is research that could be 'above and beyond' just getting your project done.
If you worked on your "Official" Robotic Club Project, then just provide a short overview of what you did (20+ words) and link to your project blog

5 Points - Link to your Team Robot Project site
How do you get the blog link? When you are on the blog site, click "View Blog" in the upper left side of the page, and then get the link from the new tab/page the opened.
You also added a Label of your robot name to your blog post. Labels can be added on the right side of the blog.
75 Points - This will be based on your team Robot Club Blog Post
0-20 Points - 2-5 bullet points of what your next 2-5 steps or activities will be. This is key!!! You need to be thinking about this project as a whole, and break it down into small tasks you can complete in 30-60 min
0-20 Points - Include pictures, Code, and links to references material. This will include material that could be a reference for any one doing this project. It should include any links to articles, YouTube, or resources like Instructables...
0-25 Points - 20-100 words of what you, you personally, did. Make sure you and who ever you are having enter the Team Robot Club post, puts your name down with what you did. This description needs to account for the amount of time
Extra Credit +2 to 5 Points Extra Credit - Specifically point out resources that would be beneficial to other teams doing the same activities. This could be similar to the links above, but specifically would be helpful to some one else. This is research that could be 'above and beyond' just getting your project done.
A short answer writing assignment and typical Entry/Exit Ticket assignment will be graded in the following manner. These assignments are typically work done in the first 15-20 min or the last 15-20 min of class. The expectation nis that these are going to be 100-200 + words or short answers about a current event or technology topic. This work is almost always graded at a 100 point scale and submitted through Google Classroom, or is a link on the class blog,
The witting assignment is graded based on thoughtful answers to questions posed.
100-90 points: Relates the topic and subject to their personal experience. Shows an understanding to their life experience. Addresses the question. States a relevant, justifiable answer. Presents arguments in a logical order. Uses acceptable style and grammar (no errors).Demonstrates an accurate and complete understanding of the question. Backs conclusions with data and justifications. Uses 2 or more ideas, examples and/or arguments that support the answer
Topic Sentence & Supporting Details: 40%
Interesting, original topic sentence, reflecting thought and insight; focused on one interesting main idea. Cites specific evidence from relevant portions or text. No errors in text-based facts.
Interesting, concrete and descriptive examples and details with explanations that relate to the topic.
Demonstrates sophisticated understanding of relevant passages in context of whole text or excerpt.
Thoughtful, logical progression of supporting examples; Mature transitions between ideas

Demonstrates an accurate and complete understanding of the question. Backs conclusions with data and justifications. Uses 1 or more ideas, examples and/or arguments that support the answer
Topic Sentence & Supporting Details: 40%
Clearly stated topic sentence presents one main idea. Cites evidence from relevant portions or text. No more than one error in text-based facts.
Examples and details relate to the topic and some explanation is included.
Demonstrates accurate understanding of relevant passages in context of whole text or excerpt.
Details are arranged in a logical progression; appropriate transitions.
Interpretation and Personalization: 30%
Interprets document in own words, goes beyond literal meaning to conceptual and historical significance of text. Examples and details relate to the topic and some explanation is included.
Shows some knowledge of historical context of document.
Mechanics, Style & Understanding of the Assignment: 30%
Understands and responds to all or most questions
Some errors, but none major, in usage, spelling, or punctuation. (1-2)

79 -70 Points: Doesn’t address the questions explicitly, although does so tangentially. States a relevant and justifiable answer.Presents arguments in a logical order. Uses acceptable style and grammar (1-2 errors). Demonstrates an accurate but only adequate understanding of the question. Doesn’t back conclusions with data. Uses only one idea to support the answer. Less thorough than above.
Topic Sentence & Supporting Details: 40%s
Acceptable topic sentence presents one idea. Cites evidence from relevant portions or text. Some errors in text-based facts.
Sufficient number of examples and details that relate to the topic.
Demonstrates mostly accurate understanding of relevant passages in context of whole text or excerpt.
Acceptable arrangement of examples; transitions may be weak.
Interpretation and Personalization: 30%
Some answers may be inconsistent with text taken as a whole. Generally uses own words, though some responses rely too heavily on cited text.

Missing, invalid, or inappropriate topic sentence; main idea is missing. Evidence either lacking or vague that it does not demonstrate familiarity with text. Several significant errors of fact.

Does not responds to all the questions, and/or misunderstands questions.

Inconsistent or Inappropriate tone; Awkward, unclear, or incomplete sentences; Bland diction, poor word choice.
59-0 points: May have turned in some work, but clearly incomplete. Doesn’t address the question. Has not made an effort to complete the assignment or answer the questions
Did not turn in work
Responds to fewer than half the questions, and/or misunderstands questions.
Evidence either lacking or so vague that it does not demonstrate familiarity with text. Several significant errors of fact.
Understanding vague, inconsistent, or seriously flawed.
Uses language that is either vague or copied from text without interpretation.
Shows no knowledge or incorrect knowledge of Engineering context.
This assignment is all about keeping the classroom clean. Please check out the "Clean Up" page for an explanation on what I'm expecting for each job. Each student is assigned a random job at the end of class. This is a weekly grade. It is scored as a cumulative OBSERVED EFFORT over the whole week. I may or may not grade this every day, but will definitely review 2-3 days worth of effort
10-9 Points: - Completed task in a professional manner. Student willingly and without direction takes an active role in group clean-up of the classroom and lab area
8 Points: - Student requires direction or reminding to take on a role in group clean-up of the classroom and lab area
7 Points: - Student reluctantly takes direction to take on a role in group clean-up the classroom and lab area.
6-0 Points: - Student refuses to take on a role in group clean-up of the classroom and lab area, requires constant redirection to stay on task, or just sits down and does not take part
